I hadn’t doodled for a while. It takes courage to scribble and doodle, for it requires one to dive into a moment and not have an agenda, an intention. But just be in a moment.

I love it.

This morning, unfortunately woken up and caught the news of the Kao-Hsiung earthquake. I thought for those preparing for Lunar New Year celebrations and felt bad for them. I know some of the fans from my debut album were from Taiwan, and decided to express my condolences. But without an image, i didn’t feel it was complete. I started off searching for some but copyright issues frustrated me and i just decided to ink out a 5 min doodle on Taipei city skyline as my way of expressing our love and thoughts and prayers. It felt so foreign but i loved every moment of it. I felt that every second spent on it, was a whisper of prayer for those fighting the tremors. I prayed for peace, for cover, for protection and for it to stop.

Pray for Taiwan.

Pray for Taiwan.

Later on this evening, my husband presented me with his new app on his new T-pad, a Chinese version of an ipad (very impressive little model), and asked me to inaugurate the app by sketching on it. He saw my earlier sketch and knew how much i used to spend time sketching and painting. He wanted to encourage me. I felt touched, and briefly sketched a 1-minute sketch of him. Wasn’t sure how to work it but i quite like how goofy and raw it looks.
